Responsibilities: The Director of Business Development will report to the Vice President of Business Development. The primary focus of the role will be to understand the payments and relevant money transfer networks, industries and market trends in order to develop the opportunity, business case and priorities for various mobile money transfer services. Further, this role will be responsible to assist the VP of Business Development as needed in other business development activities that may arise.This individual must have strong business development skills and relevant domain knowledge in order to develop and execute a money transfer strategy for Firethorn/Qualcomm which includes identifying key business drivers and economics, determining key business requirements for the product, developing and managing strong partnerships necessary for executing the strategy, having the ability to communicate a vision of mobile commerce services, and having the capability to influence others.This position must be able to develop a money transfer business plan, receive and provide direction as needed, and make appropriate decisions necessary to achieve expected results. The role is responsible for taking the lead in defining, developing, and proposing the partnering and distribution strategy (including associated economics) for the money transfer eco-system required to enable wide distribution of proposed services to consumers. Further, this individual will need to assist and selling the plan to necessary carrier and financial institution partners.This individual will be responsible for executing components of the business plan which may include: business requirements definition, relationship building, sales & contract negotiation, account management and vendor support.Requirements: Ten plus years business experience in business development and operations in the banking and payments industry which includes deep understanding of debit and credit networks and money transfer businesses.Experience with money transfer networks and businesses including relevant customary practices.Experience in developing business cases and start up economic models.
