Job Description:
The incumbent performs a wide range of accounting duties to provide benefits to veterans, their beneficiaries, dependents, and employees. He/she operates with a minimum of guidance under the general administrative supervision of the Chief, Fiscal Service, and must have an in-depth understanding of budgetary and accounting principles, theories, and cost allocation. Analyzes a multiplicity of information sources and develops his/her own methods and procedures to arrive at formats for special reports required by top management. Prepares or supervises the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Fiscal reports and studies involving analysis, interpretation and summary of information as required by VA Headquarters. Supervises employees of the accounting unit and employee travel; provides administrative and technical guidance necessary for accomplishing the work. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff; observes and evaluates work performance, and resolves informal complaints and grievances. Qualifications: Basic Requirements: (A) A degree in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included 24 semester hours in accounting
