Title: Sr. Technical Accounting
Location: Aurora, CO

Billion Dollar Privately held corporation established over 30 years ago. This is one of Colorado’s fastest growing and well positioned organizations.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Director, the Director of Technical Accounting will be responsible for developing organization strategy and administering its affairs so that the company is in compliance with all rules and regulations (e.g. SEC, GAAP, etc.). The candidate would be responsible for:
• Worldwide accounting compliance pertaining to technical accounting, including the researching of accounting issues, documenting and explaining the research and conclusions to top management, provide technical advisory to the department as well to other finance groups within the company.
• Collaborating with other functional groups and advising of management on accounting implications of corporate transactions. Such transactions will include mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, internal restructuring and complex financing.
• Coordinating, collaborating and directing the company’s external audit firm in all areas of technical accounting issue during quarter and year-end end periods and resolving technical issues to the audit firm’s satisfaction.
• Driving the work of third party consulting firms such as valuation firms in enlisting and coordinating their needs as required.
• Obtaining the necessary information across functional groups in order to facilitate the technical accounting department’s staff to properly document their conclusions and rationale.
• Collaborating with the SEC reporting and equity accounting teams as needed.
• Being familiar with research tools and continuous updating of knowledge of technical accounting matters.
Qualifications: Requirements:
• 12+ years experience, primarily in public accounting
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a leadership role
Education:
The candidate shall have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from a college or University that is accredited by the AACSB. An active Certified Public Accounting designation is required.
Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 8-10 years of progressively more responsible financial management experience with a heavy emphasis on technical control and accounting and a significant portion of that experience shall be in a public company. The successful candidate will have experience in working with Big 4 Auditing firms and their personnel, directing and documenting technical accounting matters for review by top management, working in a global company with history of effecting mergers & acquisitions and other complex transactions. Knowledge of working with complex multi-national ERP accounting systems/software industry experience is a decided plus. The ability to use Microsoft Office products is a must.
