Job Description:
Detention Services Officer supervises the activities of minors detained in one of the three juvenile halls located in Downey, Los Angeles, and Sylmar. Incumbents serve as a member of a small team responsible for the order and security of a unit of juveniles and provide situational counseling as necessary. Appointees must be willing to work any shift (6 a.m.-2 p.m. or 2 p.m. -10 p.m.), including weekends and holidays.
Job Requirements:
Requirements: Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college including course work in the behavioral or social sciences such as: psychology, sociology or criminology. Candidates must be 21 years of age, be a U.S. citizen; have a valid driver license, must pass a medical and psychological exam and a thorough background investigation.
