POSITION TITLE: Senior Operational Accountant
REPORTS TO: Accounting Supervisor
LOCATION: Denver, CO
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
The operational accountant acts as the financial advisor for the company duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Gathers information from operations/marketing for accrual and actualization of monthly financial results
• Reviews/analyzes revenue and COGS
• Prepares daily\monthly disbursements of producer billings, payments and collections for customers
• Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyzes accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals.
• Analyzes gas marketing transactions, including prepayments, sales, and purchases, while assuring payment or receipt of funds
• Prepares Gas Settlement information, journal entries and reconciliations
• Performs monthly reconciliations including marketing inventories, sales, cogs and balance sheet accounts.
• Collects/analyzes financial data and prepares monthly financial statements and reports. Performs additional analysis for explanatory text required for reports and statement. Compares monthly results to budget and communicate variances to management
• Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls.
Education or formal training
3-5 years work experience
Accounting or related degree required
Strong GAAP accounting knowledge
