Job Description:
This highly visible and technically challenging position: Provides technical assistance to staff, contractors, engineers, architects, and the public on construction projects, code interpretations, inspection requests, Department policies, and other procedures. Plans, supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of a staff of 11, including Engineers, Inspectors, Technicians and Counter staff. Prepares the annual budget and work program related to work activities. Evaluates employee performance and participates in the selection of employees. Works with employees and managers in a collaborative and customer service-oriented working environment. Requirements A bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and registration as a licensed Civil Engineer is required plus any combination of education and experience that demonstrates competency, such as 5 or more years of progressively responsible, diversified experience, including or supplemented by experience in supervision. Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, methods and practices as applied to public works, including planning and development, design and construction is required.
