Job Description: Kelly Healthcare Resources is recruiting for IN-PATIENT MEDICAL CODERS for a consulting firm in Philadelphia.
Job Description: - Perform medical site visit reviews, to evaluate completeness of medical record documentation, coding, and information capture. Queries physicians when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous or unclear for coding purposes. - Review records for proper coding assignment according to official guidelines - Perform coder quality reviews – measurement of coding proficiency and determination of understanding. - Knowledge of coding standards and ability to research issues and find solutions. - Compose reports on findings and recommendations. - Keep abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements. - Analyze and develop systems related to billing, collecting and reporting of professional and medical services to ensure recovery of all inpatient charges; ensure compliance with Medicare and other insurance carrier guidelines related to documentation, coding and medical necessity.

Job Requirements: - Must be possess coding credentials (RHIA, RHIT or CCS) recognized by AHIMA. Applicant must have prior work experience as a coder and strong training background in coding and reimbursement. - Minimum of five (5) years of experience in coding and/or auditing hospital inpatient medical records using ICD-9 and CPT coding systems. - Extensive experience in analysis of medical records, data collection, ICD-9 CM and CPT coding. - Experience in performing medical record audits - Expert working knowledge of MS-DRG assignment, POA and ICD-9-CM coding. - Working knowledge of electronic medical records/billing systems and medical terminology and abbreviations. - Must be computer literate - Require proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel with knowledge of Encoding software. - Strong organizational, writing and verbal communication skills required for coders and non-coders. - Must have good judgment in problem solving of billing issues. - Must be familiar with CPT Assistant, Coding Clinic, Specialty department and practices and procedures within a particular field.
