Job Details:
Assist in the development, successful implementation, adoption, and maintenance of a unified XML data model. Assist in developing plans, schedules, to implement XML source data, XSLT and XSLFO scripts, and CMS Ant build scripts. Develop "how-to" documentation that explains the data model and development process. The XML Modeler is responsible for modeling content metadata as XML objects. This role is responsible for gathering business requirements for data models and also implementing these models.
In addition, this role is responsible for developing and maintaining XSL transforms for the interoperability between computer systems that have custom XML and non-XML data inputs and outputs. Collaborate with Metadata Manager to gather business requirements for content and content metadata, and capturing and maintaining business rules related to XML based data modeling and transformations. This role is expected to stay current with emerging XML technologies, XML-based data modeling best practices, and external XML standards for the news and media industry. Lastly, the role is expected to participate in news and media industry standards bodies and provide recommendations to the development team on leveraging XML technologies to optimize metadata performance in the enterprise.
Necessary Requirements:
A basic understanding of web services (SOAP, WSDL’s) and XML schema’s is required.
Ability to function as part of a development team to include the use of a version control system.
Experience in web service design and development, the use of XML, and Web Services Description Language (WSDL).
Working knowledge of XML, XSD Schemas, Extensible Style sheet Language Transformation (XSLT), WSDL Development
Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) Development
Working knowledge of Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)
Working knowledge of Java API for XML Processing (JAXP)
Working knowledge of Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB)
Desirable Requirements:
Ability to perform any/all task within the software lifecycle (design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and documentation.)
Ability to function as part of a large team.
