Job Description:
Leading groups of teenagers on backcountry expeditions. There are three key roles of a Field Instructor, first and foremost is safety, the second is Role-model, and the third is to challenge the students. Field staff must be aware of where the students are at all times, any hot-spots or concerns of the group, and any potential risks. This is a very challenging position, but it is equally as rewarding. Instructors are a key member of the treatment team and are responsible for upholding basic rules and expectations, following through with therapeutic directives, working towards desired student outcomes, as well as implementing your own creative ideas. Job Requirements:
All staff are required to be certified as a Wilderness First Responder. Strong applicants will have experience working with at-risk youth and/or leading backcountry expeditions. Advanced skills in rock climbing and river travel are a plus. Other skills include conflict resolution, facilitating team building activities, ropes course facilitation, backpacking, navigation, primitive skills, etc.
