It was requested that i assist the command in developing a new system to track medical records and patient information for the nearly 15,000 recruits that did their special physicals, sick call and specialty appointments at our facility as well as the Naval Hospital. The team also made listings and contacted those patients who were in need of information and or further evaluation prior to transporting.
I develpoed the system and supervised the four E-1 through E-5 corpsmen who were attached to the team at the time. In the first month the number of incomplete records had beed deminished by no less than 65% and the quality assurance has proven to continue to decrease those mishaps.
Numerous patients who would have normally missed their transfer dates due to incomplete physicals and or incomplete patient information were given the assistance needed to complete their physicals and all associated medical records were placed in their record so that they may travel on time to their next duty station or school.
In this position I was in charge of the Global Locator system which was used to locate the owner of a medical record that has been found and it was likely that the patient was still a member of the military.
